Scripture: Ephesians 2:11-22 | Series: Eastertide 2018
The implications of our security and our salvation in Christ is a vision of solidarity - a new humanity embodying the same love with which God loved the world in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. The problem is that the hope of that unity has always been marked by different cultural visions. This was by far the biggest problem confronting Paul in his own day (with Jews and Gentiles) and increasingly the biggest problem confronting us too. Political acrimony and racial tension divide the church as much as the world. In this passage Paul sketches an answer for how the Gospel can bring solidarity with all people through Jesus Christ.
