Scripture: Revelation 3:14-22 | Series: Lent 2017
Sloth, like all of the vices, has come to be grossly misunderstood as excessive enjoyment of relaxation or laziness. But the hallmark of these "source" sins is that they distort God in such a way as to afflict the sinner with soul killing, spiraling miseries - and the misery of sloth is more like numbness. In Christ's oral letter to the Laodiceans, given through John, we are shown the God we reject by sloth, the life afflicted by it and the path out from it - all of which point to our need to love and be loved by our Creator.
