Scripture: Ecclesiastes 11:1-6 | Series: Ecclesiastes: Grounded Spirituality
The Teacher has assessed the absurdity of life as a bizarre alchemy of unquenchable desire, utterly unpredictable circumstances followed by certain death. As he concludes with some recommendations on how to live in that world, he has pointed out the difference between really living and simply being alive, urged us to receive a certain kind of wisdom and now, in these verses, admonishes us to release control. We have no other choice. In capitulating to reality, we come to understand both the necessity and nature of faith as active risk taking.
